Pet Partnership 101

The Challenge

Assist customers in learning the key ideals of animal-centered design and putting them into practice for caring for their canine family members.

The Outcome

A series of lectures to increase of animal and human wellbeing through the use of an animal-centered design perspective.

We designed this fundamental training for our clients as part of pH-auna's goal of legitimizing animals of users of products and services and beneficiaries of care. We explain the key ideals of animal-centered design as a fresh approach to pet care across the ten sessions. Each lecture employs a teaching strategy that incorporates constructivist, collaborative, integrative, reflective, and inquiry-based learning.

The lectures present human and animal-centered design and its key ideals, encouraging customers to actively participate in conversations about their differences, similarities, and major obstacles. They take customers through an examination of the history of human-canine interactions along with reflective exercises in pets contemporary function in human society, and the ethical obligations and ramifications of pet ownership. They highlight dogs' primary physical, sensory, social, cognitive, cultural, and emotional features and capacities, as well as how they relate to who dogs are as a breed and as individuals.

Clients participate in interactive activities in which they construct individualized care-based routines (e.g., bath time, nail trimming, scent walk) or toys for their dogs, as well as teach their dog a basic command using positive reinforcement training techniques.

Reflective and inquiry-based learning lectures encourage customers to identify the contextual variables that impact their dog's user experience and to develop an evaluative maturity of their user experience.
